Hey there, I’m Brandi!

I’m a designer and front-end developer living in Washington DC, ever-excited about all things web. I’ve been in the business for more than twenty years now, and I honestly never tire of the magic that is the Internet.

I feel that I’m a rare breed in that I not only design websites (and other pieces like logos, biz cards and posters), but I also code the front-end of the sites I mock up. I’ve loved getting my hands dirty in CSS and HTML ever since college, and I’m always eager to learn more, but my skill-set took a major leap forward after I learned how to responsively theme content management systems like WordPress and Drupal.

Current obsessions include sucking up Sass tricks like a vacuum cleaner and hearting responsive design and living style guides/pattern libraries. I also really love to teach and share the tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years with my colleagues. I imagine in another lifetime I was a professor of some sort.

Visuals and code are my passions, and I find myself getting lost in sites like Smashing Magazine, Viget code/design posts, Codrops experiments and so many more. Type is an interest as well, of course, and I’m frequently adding to my font collection and looking for new inspiration (can’t beat a gorgeous standby like Gotham or Helvetica Neue, though). I also adore minimalist gig posters and screen printing in general.

As far as the rest of my activities are concerned, I enjoy music (Fleet Foxes, Esperanza Spalding, Tennis, Empress Of, Chvrches, Eisley, Interpol, David Bowie, and on and on), interior design, and old 70s horror movies. Plus, I like sloths and have a weirdly soft spot for all things MailChimp…all of their design, branding and quirk is so on point!
