SONG OF THE DAY - Crystal Castles

Crystal Castles - Courtship Dating
Okay, this song is just fucking awesome, plain and simple. I’m not even gonna jazz it up or put some fancy word icing on it. I felt compelled to share it immediately.
It sounds like a video game, it has desperate layered/shattered girly vocals (and random screams?), and it has a great beat. What more could you ask for? Thanks to some of my FB friends who finally made me take note of these guys. Good call. While I’m still feeling out the album, this song has been on repeat on my iPod alllll day. Louder and louder each time. It’s a style called “8-bit” I’m told, and while a strangely similar technique is used in 50 Cent’s Ayo Technology which is also fun, I think this one definitely has it beat.

I thought it sounded pretty much exactly the same…I wondered if there was some controversy..hmmm.

Crystal Castles is mind-blowing. My favorite’s “Mother Knows Best”:

I apparently just missed them at Baltimore’s Ottobar, which is a bummer.

Oooh, thanks for the link! I like it. Looks my Seeqpod link isn’t working at the moment…that site rocks, but I notice it stops working randomly. I love Last.fm, but I feel a bit wary about the whole beta phase of the full track option…who knows when they will suddenly change all of them after they get the stats they need and turn it into a “Pro-only” feature or something. I’m also not so fond of the 3 listens limit.
