cardigans and other frock lust

I know this has nothing to do with design or development (well, maybe fashion design?) but I thought I’d take a cue from Allison and do a little Fall wardrobe lusting (though I am sticking to my realistic love for Urban Outfitters and skipping the $500+ fantasies).

I am in love with these oversized “boyfriend” cardigans I am seeing everywhere. Not oversized bad-floppy, but like tight and long, and just begging for a belt or for a little pencil skirt and tight t-shirt underneath (I have a thing for cozy meets tailored). I have been wanting a pencil skirt for I-don’t-even-know how long now, and I have yet to get one. Even tucking a t-shirt into them looks amazing! And I do understand I may need to forgo my almost cartoonish staple of colorful flats when wearing one in order for the appropriate architectural lift to take shape, if you will.

It’s all about simple/lazy, not overdone-looking, but still so chic and cool. Kind of like those little black cigarette jeans. I just got that bunch of new shoes, so I only smuggled in one pair here. And that American Apparel cranberry skirt so awesome: it’s actually a dress that you can tie like 10 different ways. Unfortunately I think the bottom may not be hemmed, which is kind of lame construction-wise, like a lot of their clothes seem to be. And I adore the black tights with shorts or skirt look, too.

Oh, and did I mention that my best friend and roomie from college is moving to the DC area this month? HELL YES! I can’t tell you how much I need that.

And in honor of the mighty cardigan (from such a good album)…

Summer Nostalgia

I’ve been waiting patiently for the end of summer to come so I could post my sad little collection of “summer’s over” songs. They’re more bittersweet than outright sad, and I noticed a trend here and there with their general vibe and wanted to jot them down so that I could share them later.

What better time than Labor Day?

Each of these three just touches on a note of the end…of summer, and other things. Drifting. They’re nothing new, and you’ve probably heard them before, but they’re special to me for many random inside reasons and always touch a nerve. Enjoy :)

The raw vegan in me has died. I eat standard american diet fare again. I am a failure.
